Fun. Right?

Some favorite things. Whenever I get around to it...

Arcade Fire: Wake Up

Arcade Fire: Wake Up

I've been to two of their shows. The first one is still one of the top three concerts I've ever been to.

I heard some really bad news about tomorrow, today...

Kool Keith: Livin Astro

Kool Keith: Livin Astro

Just another great MC that's under the radar for way too many.

Polyphonic Spree: Light and Day

Polyphonic Spree: Light and Day

Music video created from clips of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. It's a feel good tune with upbeat rhythm and a great message. Just follow the day...

Virgins: Rich Girls

The Virgins: Rich Girls

A friend recently turned me on to this group. Apparently, their second show EVER was in front of over 3,000 people! Impressive, by any standards...

On an extreme off-note.. why do people (specifically girls) feel the need to sing along to songs at shows? Those people didn't pay to hear you sing... Just my personal opinion.

Chuck Prophet: No Other Love

Chuck Prophet: No Other Love

I woke up this morning with this song stuck in my head. I must have had a dream involving it or something. I wish there was a video for it. I don't even know what this movie is...?

The Animals: Please Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood

The Animals: Please Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood

Throwing it back, my friends. I really like this video. It was shot entirely in a studio, and probably started and finished in an afternoon. The colors are really cool and just work for it, kind of an an opaque pastel palette. Those suits are really impressive, and they look good on everyone in the band. I want one.

The whole style is somewhat rigid and stiff, there isn't much movement from the band members besides Eric Bourdon walking around a little bit. I was a nice change from most videos you see these days. Oh, and the song is awesome too.

Buck 65: Devil's Eyes

Buck 65: Devil's Eyes

My great friend Erin turned me on to this guy about two years ago. This was one of the first songs I heard. About a month later, Erin went on a month long trip to Ireland, and wile he was over there, found that Buck 65 was playing in the town he was in on his birthday. Of course, he went.

I have to say though, he has an amazingly original sound and song style that I haven't heard before.

Neil Young: Heart of Gold

Neil Young: Heart of Gold

My favorite Neil Young song. He is still creating music and using it to spread his political ideals... more power to him.

Animal Collective: Grass

Animal Collective: Grass

I went to see these guys in Seattle, but it ended up being sold out. Luckily enough I was with some lady friends (showing cleavage) and the doorman offered them to get in at $10 a piece. I was buying anyways, so the three of us ended up getting in for $30, which was about what people paid for a ticket.

Anyways, it was an amazing show. The openers were forgettable (I can't even remember who it was), but Animal Collective took the stage and filled the venue with energy. We were obviously not the only ones the doorman had allowed in for the night, as the place was well beyond capacity. The floors were bowing as the crowd danced.

Holy Fuck: The Pulse

Holy Fuck: The Pulse

This is yet another KEXP find. I get kinda bummed out that I can only listen to that station online these days... makes it harder for me to find solid new music like this...

Daniel Johnston: I Had Lost My Mind

Daniel Johnston: I Had Lost My Mind

I also need to see this film... The Devil and Daniel Johnston. This guy interests me...

Two Ton Boa: Cash Machine

Two Ton Boa: Cash Machine

I really didn't expect this band to have a video... at least not a professional one... but hey, they are from Olympia. That scene is better than I ever thought it could be.

Anyways, Dan(ny) introduced me to this band while I worked at Crystal Mountain. We listened to it in the shop pretty often. Good times.

Saul Williams: List of Demands

Saul Williams: List Of Demands

This song is just simply great. The lyrics are one in themselves, they just work, and at all times. I really enjoyed the video, too.

He's in this movie called SLAM. I haven't seen it, but I plan on checking it out in the near future...

Lemon Jelly: The Staunton Lick

Lemon Jelly: The Staunton Lick

This is yet another fan video... But its just shots taken from other Lemon Jelly videos. The creator of this video and I agree that this is one of their best songs...

Yeasayer: 2080

Yeasayer: 2080

Heard these guys on KEXP while up late working on a paper last semester, became a big fan right away. This is another Fan video... but hey what can you expect? A lot of these bands can't afford to make their own videos yet...

Smashing Pumpkins: Today

The Smashing Pumpkins: Today

Today isn't the greatest day I've ever known... but it is. In some sense. Right?

14 March 2008

RATATAT: Gettysburg

RATATAT: Gettysburg

This is another amateur video, but its pretty solid if you ask me... Which you should, cause I know what I'm talking about.

Saw this the other day... I forgot how awesome the video is.

I've been listening to Bright Eyes for a few years now. He has a very original voice.

I really like Nas. I have been a closet fan of his since 2002, at least... haha.javascript:void(0)

Gary Joules: Mad World

Gary Joules: Mad World

If you are wondering where you have heard this song before, it's a part of the Donnie Darko soundtrack. I think I will watch that movie this week...

Nik's weekend: Day One: AmpLive: Remix of Radiohead's Nude

AmpLive Remix of Radiohead: Nude

My buddy Nik expressed some minor interest in adding to the blog... so here is his first weekend.

This is the only remix song with a video that I could find. I think some of the other tracks are better, but that's just me. Also, if you're interested, you can download this entire remix album for free here. I don't know how long that will last.

Jamie T: So Lonely Was the Ballad

Jamie T: So Lonely Was the Ballad

Heard this on KEXP a few months ago... I wrote it down to remember it. I need to do that more.

06 March 2008

Trentemoller: The Forest

Trentemoller: The Forest

Interesting video... I don't know if its a fan video or the official... but whatever. This song has an awesome late night listening feel to it.

05 March 2008

MGMT: Kids

MGMT: Kids

This is a fan/student video. I like the lip syncing and face painted awesomeness, but the splice ins of random internet videos? That doesn't really do it for me...

Anyway, the song is kinda poppy, but I still like it...

03 March 2008

Air: Alone in Kyoto

Air: Alone in Kyoto

Just an all around feel good song... smooth easy listening that I seem to have a bit of a connection to lately, if thats possible.

Dodo's: Fools

Dodo's: Fools

I just heard this song less than five minutes ago. It was good, so I searched it, found it, and added it here. I love the internet...

By the way, this might go down because the uploader doesn't have the rights to it, but oh well.
