Dogs Die in Hot Cars: Lounger

Dogs Die in Hot Cars: Lounger

I first hear this song back in the fall of 04. I hadn't heard it in over two years when it came on the radio this afternoon.

This video is hilarious to me. I really hope these kids had to do this for some school project or something. They sure look really into it... I think they are very serious... about their lounge.

Dogs Die in Hot Cars are from Scotland. back in 2007 they announced that they were ending work on a new album and perhaps going their separate ways. Different story this year. They are back together and releasing some stuff in an interesting way. Check out their

Todd Rundgren+President Bush: I Just Wanna Bang On the Drum All Day

Todd Rundgren+President Bush: I Just Wanna Bang On the Drum All Day

This was pretty much my favorite song when I was a little guy. I used to make my mom turn it up super loud and I would scream along at the top of my lungs and bang on whatever I could. My car seat took a beating, I heard...

On to Todd... man, I didn't realize how awesome this guy is! He is one of the cutting edge leaders that you will never know about. He was the producer behind XTC's Skylarking! Which as we all should know was well ahead of its time. He has also worked as a producer for other recognizable big names like Meat Loaf, Bad Religion, Grand Funk Railroad, and the Psychedelic Furs. He had one of the first music videos to be aired on MTV, and he very much embraced the internet. He started a site where he could release his music directly to his fans and cut out the record label. That was back in the mid 90's!

Anyway... he might have a new solo album coming out this summer. I might have to look into that.

By the way, I can't gaurantee that everything here is accurate, I got it off wikipedia.

Shout Out Louds: Tonight I Have To Leave It

Shout Out Louds: Tonight I Have To Leave It

Heard this a while back but never caught the name of the band or song. Heard it again the other day and was sure to listen up when the DJ mentioned who it was.

I first thought that the lead singer had a bright eyes kind of sound, but I don't really think so anymore... but it reminds me of someone else's voice...

Alejandro Escovedo: Chelsea Hotel '78

This guy has been around the music business for over thirty years. His new album comes out next week and should be pretty dang good.

This is a performance at the New Orleans Jazz Fest. I should talk to my people and try and get him to come here for next years Lionel Hampton jazz fest.

Beach House: You Came To Me

This bands music is like wine. I don't think I need to say the next part...

M. Night Shyamalan's newest flick The Happening comes out today. I will see it this week. It will probably be pretty decent.

The Replacements: Androgynous

The Replacements: Androgynous

A live acoustic performance of one of my favorite replacements songs. The acoustic aspect leaves a little to be desired, but I still like it... the ambiance in the room really helps to set the mood I guess... People are still just carrying on conversations in the background and he just keeps on playing...

The Hold Steady: You Can Make Him Like You

This band isfrom Brooklyn... interesting lead vocals. So far this is my favorite song off the album boys and girls in america.

They had a music video contest where they allowed people to make a music video for their songs. This is one of them. I doubt it won, but it was the best one made for this song that I found in the limited time I spent looking for one.

Lykke Li: Dance Dance Dance

Heard this earlier today on KEXP. On their playlist website t said it was untitled... but youtube said it was dance dance dance... and that would make sense.

She has a cat power/feist sound about her.. but hey, obviously I dig that sort of sound.

N.E.R.D: Spaz

N.E.R.D: Spaz

Pharrells description of what it is...

"What is a N.E.R.D? N.E.R.D stands for No One Ever Really Dies. The Neptunes are who we are and N.E.R.D is what we do. It's our life. N.E.R.D is just a basic belief, man. People's energies are made of their souls. When you die, that energy may disperse but it isn't destroyed."

Pretty true, I'd say...

Husker Du: New Day Rising

Husker Du: New Day Rising

Typically credited as a hugely influential band to many different genres. I've heard heavy metal, early alternative, indie, and unfortunately even emo all lay claim to them as a huge influence for their sound.

This is my favorite song of theirs... the recorded version is much better.
