Fun. Right?

Some favorite things. Whenever I get around to it...

Devotchka: How It Ends

Devotchka: How It Ends

I'm a big fan of this song. This live version is even more than the original recorded track, I should think. I, like many, found this band from the movie Little Miss Sunshine and was then reinforced to their awesomeness by KEXP, of course.

I can't get over this song. I am really enjoying this blog. Fun.

Patrick Cleandenim: So You Think You're Gonna Live Forever

Patrick Cleandenim: So You Think You're Gonna Live Forever

I first heard Patrick Cleandenim on a compilation put together by Esopus Magazine, which is a non-profit arts magazine out of New York. Each issue comes with a themed compilation, and it's usually pretty dang good. Here is the link to the Esopus website. The entire magazine is pretty awesome, actually... well worth the cost.

The Eels: Rags to Rags

The Eels: Rags to Rags

I used to listen to this song a lot back in high school. The video isn't synced with the audio, but oh well.

**I just realized that this video ends prematurely, so here is another awesome Eels video to enjoy**

The Eels: My Beloved Monster

it's good stuff, the Eels.

Glen Hansard & Markéta Irglová: Falling Slowly

Glen Hansard & Markéta Irglová: Falling Slowly

This song just won an oscar for Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Song in the movie "Once". I haven't seen the movie yet, unfortunately. Soon.

It's a beautiful song, and their acceptance speeches were hands down the best all night. Very inspiring.

Mint Royale: Show Me

Mint Royale: Show Me

I just heard this the other day, and I can't wait to take a long lonesome snowboard run with it... wide open, my friends.

The video is, well I don't really know what it is... Again, I posted for the song. That's pretty much the case 100% of the time, just so you know from now on...

Gastr Del Sol: The Seasons Reverse

Gastr Del Sol: The Seasons Reverse

a fan video... definitely different. To be honest, I didn't even watch the whole video. I just posted it for the song. This is another one of those songs that I could listen to over and over again.

Basement Jazz: Where's your head at?

Basement Jaxx: Where's Your Head At?

This video is awesome! Definitely original and kinda scary at the same time...

This song was also recently stuck in my head. I wish I had some of this bands stuff on my iPod. I want to commute to it, seems like it would be good to ride with.

Kings of Leon: King of the Rodeo

Kings of Leon: King of the Rodeo

I first heard this song on KEXP a long time ago John in the Morning played it pretty much every morning and I listened on my way to class... Then I downloaded it and listened to it on repeat constantly. To this day, it's still the number one most played song in my iTunes library... It's just so easy to listen to over and over and over and over.

(by the way, I wanted to put up the recorded version with the subsequent video, but Sony won't allow it... so the original is here... the video isn't that great, but oh well, it's the song I'm after most of the time anyways.)

Fatboy Slim: Praise You

Fatboy Slim: Praise You

This song was stuck in my head the other day... Spike Jonze directed and starred in this. That's him leading the dance group.

Here is an interesting story about the making of the video from one of the dancers that was a part of it.

Mos Def: Fear Not Of Man

Mos Def: Fear Not Of Man

Pretty good message, I think...

Obviously this is a fan video, and I am not sure that I agree with her that this song is so politically based... thoughts?

In any case, it's a solid song.

Low: California

Low: California

I found out about this band because a member of it (Alan Sparhawk, awesome name) wrote a song that a different band performed... I've been lookinf for that performance, but no luck as of yet...

I also heard a rumor that these guys are LDS. I can respect that... I don't know of any other good LDS bands out there yet.

Eddie Vedder: Hard Sun

Eddie Vedder: Hard Sun

I often have thoughts about a life like this... Cutting everything loose to explore the deeper meanings...

Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam did the entire soundtrack for Into The Wild. One day, that movie will be the source of great inspiration for me...

Jose Gonzalez: Down The Line

Jose Gonzalez: Down The Line

This song and I have a history... I listened to it during a break up. I wish I didn't. This song is too good to be forever associated with that one moment in my life. There's more to our history than that, though...

Hugh Masekela

Hugh Masekela is an amazing trumpet player and vocalist from South Africa. I was lucky enough to see him live last year in Seattle. It's still one of the best I've been too.

This is where I first discovered him...

I was taking an online music course, and one assignment was that we had to watch three concerts and write a report on each. Well at the time, I was living at the mountain and didn't have time to get down and go see a concert in person, so I went to the Enumclaw Library and checked out the only three concerts they had on video. One of them happened to be Paul Simon's Graceland tour in South Africa, which featured a handful of popular musicians from SA. I had low expectations, but afterwards was inspired...

This next video is a different live performance of the last song in the first video, Stimela... I like is so much I felt it allowed to post it twice.

This last video is an actual produced (not live) video for his song Chileshe.

Daft Punk: Harder Better Faster Stronger

Daft Punk: Harder Better Faster Stronger

Daft Bodies. I stole this from Vanessa, but it's okay cause she stole it from Mark's friend that she doesn't know... and I don't even know mark, so it's okay.

This is one of my favorite versions of this song... Frank Blacks voice when he sings "God is Seven" is nothing shy of inspiring.

If you can't tell, I'm a fan of the guests on Letterman...

TV on the Radio

Awesome music video that seems to fit this band very well...

And here is the same song but performed on Letterman...

Such a high energy... Letterman was not expecting it, I don't think.

Nothing

This isn't so much a music video, as it's video that was created to be played back during a live show... still powerful.

I produced my own music video for this song... but sadly it vanished with the downfall of my hard drive.
