Fun. Right?

Some favorite things. Whenever I get around to it...

The Refreshments: Psychosis

The Refreshments disbanded back in 1997... but they are probably most recognized for their compilation of the King of the Hill Animated TV show.

The Focus Group: Last Night at the Fair

I heard The Focus Group on a Cd that came with Esopus magazine (I've mentioned that magazine before here, but if you haven't yet, check it out at Esopusmag.com). So far, that magazine hasn't really let me down...

Snow Patrol: Firelight

I can't remember where I first heard this song... but I think it was in a movie. I really like the simplicity of it. The video goes great with it. It looks just like someones vacation footage or something, but they did a decent job editing it. I've been on this big handheld thing lately... I really like the look and feel it gives to pretty much everything.

Mirah: The Garden

Mirah is also from PA.. just like Man Man. I didn't mention that when I wrote about them, but felt it odd that the artists I picked to go back to back were both starting with an M and both from PA.

Anyway.

She's on K records. Pretty good. If I've noticed one thing so far from this project, it's that I've started to enjoy female solo singers a lot more...

Man Man: Feathers

Man Man is good. Just heard about them. Kinda has a circus-esque sound to it... but I'm really diggin it.

Kid606: The Illness

I think Erin is the one who showed me this. Pretty good. Probably would be good to snowboard to... this would be about as hardcore of music I could ride to, though.

Fiamma Fumana

Fiamma Fumana first came to me through a KEXP podcast. It's kinda interesting music, to say the least. They definitely have their own style. This is from a live performance in Winnipeg, but I don't know the name of the song... sorry.

Iron and Wine: Boy With A Coin

Iron and Wine: Boy With A Coin

I think I first heard of this group when they released something with Bright Eyes. I think it was a double EP or something. I should probably look it up so I sound legit... I mean this is a source of good, useful everyday information for you people, right?

Screaming Trees: Nearly Lost You

Screaming Trees: Nearly Lost You

Good song... Crappy haircut. I am not a huge fan of the video showcasing that long fiery red hair, but it was the 90's. What else should I have expected?

The Futureheads: Beginning of the Twist

The Futureheads: Beginning of the Twist

I haven't listened to the futureheads in a while. This song caught my attention again, though.

Ida Maria: Oh My God

Ida Maria: Oh My God

guess how I found this one...

I liked her voice on this track. Some of their other songs aren't quite as strong and as confident, I'd say. They do have some pretty sweet music videos though.

Kaiser Chiefs: Oh My God

Kaiser Chiefs: Oh My God

This band, and specifically this song, remind me of an earlier rock group... but I can't put my finger on who it is.

Galaxie 500: Fourth of July

Galaxie 500: Fourth of July

How could I resist posting this on the Fourth? So cliche that it isn't anymore.

PS, the band is named after an old ford. Pretty awesome name for anything... car, band, kid, etc.

Mt. St. Helen's Vietnam Band: Boring, Homeostasis, Technology

Boring

Homestasis

Technology

Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band is from Seattle. They have never played a show, as you should know by now after watching Technology. They will debut at neumos on the 31st. That is also where they will sell their EP exclusively. So far there are no tracks available for embedding that I know of. When they release a video, which I am sure is in the works, I will update this post to include it.

They worked with Seattle producer Scott Colburn on their first EP. That's pretty big.

This band has my interest... Too bad I can't get to their show.

Anyway, if you're interested, you can listen to and download their track "Who's Asking?" here.

Sea Wolf: Winter Windows

Sea Wolf: Winter Windows

I have heard this song on so many different occasions, but never was able to find out who was behind it... Just clicking around youtube I just found it. I love the internet.

Sigur Ros: Hoppipolla

Sigur Ros: Hoppipolla

Hoppipolla: hopping in puddles.

I liked the concept of this video... old guys being absolute kids again. Great stuff.
